Balmain Uniting Church is pleased to offer religious marriage services to people in same-sex relationships under the Rites of the Uniting Church in Australia. Further information about marriage of same-sex couples in the Uniting Church can be found here.
Booking a wedding? Here's what you need to know...
Balmain Uniting Church has an open policy regarding marriage: anyone who wants to be married in our church, or by our minister on or off-site, can be. If you wish to use another minister, please indicate this when making your booking. You do not need to live in the area or be a ‘member’ of our church or another.
Being married by our minister means you will be married under the rites of the Uniting Church in Australia (this is both a church and a legal requirement). We ask that you participate in a marriage preparation course either with our minister or with another organisation as agreed with our minister.
The Uniting Church order of service is used as a basis for your marriage celebration. In your pre-marriage planning our minister will discuss with you ways to make the service personal to you.
The legal Notice of Intended Marriage must be completed with the Minister for more than one month and not more than 18 months before the ceremony. Because of this legal requirement bookings must be made for weddings at least five weeks prior to the ceremony.

Wedding Fees:

In Sydney: $500 (plus transport if required e.g. water taxi fare if the ceremony is on an island in the harbour)

Outside Sydney: $750

Inter-State: $750 plus return airfares
